Learn basic and intermediate level first aid that may save a life some day from certified American Heart Association instructors. This class covers a variety of common injuries and dives into more depth than your average CPR class. If you've wanted to learn first aid, or get certified, this class will get you there and beyond.

After successfully completing this class, students will be able to:

• Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
• Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
• Recognize when someone needs CPR
• Perform high-quality CPR for an adult
• Describe how to perform CPR with help from others
• Give effective breaths by using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
• Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult
• Perform high-quality CPR for a child*
• Demonstrate how to use an AED on a child*
• Perform high-quality CPR for an infant*
• Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child
• Demonstrate how to help a choking infant*
• List the priorities, roles, and responsibilities of first aid rescuers
• Describe the key steps in first aid
• Remove protective gloves
• Find the problem
• Describe the assessment and first aid actions for the following life-threatening conditions: heart attack, difficulty breathing, choking, severe bleeding, shock, and stroke
• Use an epinephrine pen
• Control bleeding and bandaging
• Recognize elements of common injuries
• Recognize elements of common illnesses
• Describe how to find information on preventing illness and injury
• Recognize the legal questions that apply to first aid rescuers

What you need to know before attending this class:

• Bring a lunch and water
• Wear active clothing and footwear
• Bring a pen/paper or means of taking notes
• There is a $10 classroom usage fee for non-members of RCLRC - please bring cash (exact change) to training. RCLRC members eligible for 10% off training class - email andy@rapiddefensewi.com your badge number to receive the discount code prior to purchasing the class.
• Getting to the range can be tricky. Located at 8922 Rifle Range Road, Racine, WI, the entrance can only be reached from Michna Road, from 6 Mile Road. Take Michna to the end and then follow the gravel road along side the railroad tracks. More instructions will to follow.
• Withdrawal and refund requests must be made to andy@rapiddefensewi.com at least 14 days prior to the registered event, and are subject to a 5% cancellation fee to cover our refund/processing costs.
