Eligible for 6 First Care Training credit hours (TECC)

Our highest rated class features hands-on training for treating injuries normally suffered during an active shooter incident, extremely violent situation, or catastrophic accident. This course goes well beyond any first aid course and builds proven battlefield lifesaving techniques. Eligible class for 6 credit hours of TECC and equivalent certification training.

This class features induced stress, physical movement, and critical decision making in a fully immersive environment featuring smells, sights, and sounds to help students gain realistic perspectives and training. You'll learn critical first aid techniques as well as strategies for increasing your chances of survival during these horrifying events.

Areas covered in this class:

  • Explanation of why and when First Care can save lives during acts of targeted violence / active shooter incidents
  • Decision making under stress – how to make life and death decisions
  • Different threat environments and what forms of care are appropriate for each
  • Response strategies for dealing with an active shooter
  • Immediate Action Drill “Ripple of Safety” – for all emergencies
  • “Move with purpose” – explanation of alternatives available to an individual during an active shooter incident (A.S.I.)
  • Remote/rapid assessment of victims and extrication/removal of patients from threat
  • Hypothermia and its effects after an act of targeted violence
  • Psychological comfort of injured
  • Controlling bleeding
  • Chest seals
  • Pressure dressings / direct pressure
  • Managing airways / recovery position
  • Casualty movement

What you need to know before attending this class:

  • This class features an immersive and realistic education that includes graphic images, examples, and situations
  • This a contact training class - some level of touch is involved in training exercises
  • Bring a lunch and water
  • Wear active clothing and footwear
  • Bring a pen/paper or means of taking notes
  • There is a $25 classroom usage fee. Prepay or bring cash (exact change) to class.
