The Advanced Defensive Handgun class is a one day class for experienced shooters, designed to increase the speed and accuracy on target in a deadly force self-defense situation. We accomplish this through the use of dynamic drills that require shooting from different types of cover or positions and evaluating where a student can increase their efficiency. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER LEVEL CLASS - this class is for well-versed students only. Shooters who cannot maintain safe weapons manipulation will be pulled from the class or downgraded to dryfire or airsoft weapons.

This class offers a fast-paced curriculum for shooters who have mastered the fundamentals and have a good amount of training behind them. After a very quick refresher, students will take a deeper look at improving marksmanship and correcting the bad habits, especially as they relate to fast defensive shooting. The class features a high round count through multiple shots on multiple targets, from multiple positions, and with multi-directional movement. Moving targets are introduced as well as live-action role-playing to build critical decision making skills. Time and skill permitting, students also learn how to work with a partner and gain a basic understanding of tactics, including room entry and clearing.

Areas covered during this class:

• Mastering technique to improve fundamentals: grip, stance, sight picture, sight alignment, trigger control, follow-through, natural point of aim
• Enhancing skills to shoot accurately, including quickly and with multiple rounds
• Engaging multiple and/or moving targets
• Positional shooting and moving in all directions with weapon system deployed
• Malfunctions and corrective actions with limited dexterity
• Shooting from non-standard positions
• Using cover and concealment properly depending on situation
• Moving and engaging targets with one or more partners, while applying the skills above
• Decision making in face-to-face situations
• Introduction to room entry and teamwork as time and skill allows
• Timed drills designed to maximize shooter efficiency
• Dryfire training techniques to practice at home

Prerequisites:

• Intermediate-level handgun class
• Open mind
  
• Must be lawful for you to possess a firearm in the United States
  

Student supply list:

• Semi automatic handgun (zeroed if using red dot)
• Belt and holster for your firearm
• Magazine pouches and 3 magazines (more if lower capacity)
• 300 rounds of ammo for your pistol
• Back up handgun and magazines suggested
• Eye protection
  
• Ear protection
  
• Baseball type cap or a hat
• Knee pads recommended
• Note taking gear
• Smart phone

What you need to know before attending:

• There is a $25 range usage fee for non-members of host club. If choosing not to prepay, please bring exact cash to training. If you are registering for multiple people who are a mix of members and non members, please make separate purchases for members and non members as the prepaid fee applies to every registrant.
• Club members at host clubs are eligible for 10% off tuition. Email andy@rapiddefensewi.com your badge number to receive the discount code prior to purchasing the class.
