As Mike Tyson says, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth!" Competent Gunfighter is a one day class for experienced or confident shooters, designed to teach students how to succeed when things aren't going well - like a jammed or broken firearm or injury. Basically, overcoming Murphy's Law of if it can go wrong, it probably will, and often at the worst time. Have you ever thought about what you would do when nothing is going right? The fact of the matter is you will not rise to the occasion, you will fall to the lowest level of your training.

In this class, students will work through almost everything that could potentially go wrong during a gunfight. It will prepare you for real-world problems and variables, so you aren't a deer in headlights when your life is on the line. You'll build up your rolodex of emergency information to act on when things go south.

This class offers a fast-paced curriculum for shooters who have mastered the fundamentals of handgun shooting and have some training behind them.

Areas covered during this class:

• Safety - handling, range, storage, operational
• Combat Mindset and dealing with violence of action and post-shooting issues
• Ammunition and gear selection and why those things matter
• Understanding threat levels, prioritized action, and decision making under stress
• Keeping your gun up and running (overcoming malfunctions, reloading) with either hand, from a variety of positions
• Being an effective fighter when normal body functions are limited or impossible
• Shooting while injured
• Shooting from compromised positions
• What do do when bullets aren't stopping the threat

Prerequisites:

• Intermediate-level handgun class
• Open mind
  
• Must be lawful for you to possess a firearm in the United States
  

Student supply list:

• Semi automatic handgun (zeroed if using red dot) - preferably the one you carry
• Belt and holster for your firearm
• Magazine pouches and 3+ magazines
• 250 rounds of ammo for your pistol
• 10+ dummy rounds for your pistol
• Eye protection
  
• Ear protection
  
• Baseball type cap or a hat
• Towel
• Knee and elbow pads recommended
• Note taking gear
• Smart phone

What you need to know before attending:

• There is a range usage fee for non-members of host club. If choosing not to prepay, please bring exact cash to training. If you are registering for multiple people who are a mix of members and non members, please make separate purchases for members and non members as the prepaid fee applies to every registrant.
