Intermediate Vehicle Involved Defensive Handgun is the next step in learning how to fight and defend your life in and around vehicles. This class evolves your flat-range and close quarters skills for the close confines and proximity of vehicles. Avoidance, de-escalation, less lethal, and lethal concepts will be discussed and specific tactics will be practiced. Whereas the intro class focused on ballistics around automobiles and basic self-defense tactics, intermediate puts those things into practice with real stress and added critical decision making.

There is a mix of classroom time, walk-throughs, simulations, live fire, and force-on-force training through a crawl-walk-run concept that ensures students understand the "why" behind each method. Simulated firearms and training equipment will be used for the force-on-force portion, with steel and paper targets used for live fire. Students will come away with a well-rounded, thorough understanding of their force options and the personal, ethical, and legal limitations.

Simulation weapon systems, ammo, and protective head equipment will be provided, but students should consider bringing gloves, groin protection, and other protective gear as needed. The cost of the equipment and ammunition is built into the price of the class.

Sim rounds and force-on-force training may result in minor injuries such as bruising and torn skin. Common paintball protective gear is suggested as a starting point. Minimizing exposed skin is critical.

• Threat awareness, conflict avoidance, de-escalation
• Engaging threats with various tactics and strategies
• Force-on-force engagements and scenarios
• Working and engaging threats solo and with others in the vehicle
• Enabling quick and effective decision making under pressure
• Understanding actions and reactions from all parties involved
• Personal, ethical, and legal considerations
• Recap and discussion of ballistics with vehicles and glass

Prerequisites:

• Vehicle Involved Defensive Handgun Level 1 or intermediate level handgun class
• Open mind
  
• Must be lawful for you to possess a firearm in the United States
  
• Must be 18 or older

Student supply list:

• Semi automatic handgun (zeroed if using red dot), single actions not recommended
• Belt and concealable holster for your firearm (IWB or OWB acceptable)
• Magazine pouches (concealable if possible) and 3+ magazines
• 200 rounds of ammo for your pistol (FMJ only)
• Dummy pistol such as a red/blue gun, airsoft, or other trainer (bring gas and BB's if needed)
• Eye protection

• Baseball type cap or a hat and active clothing (pants suggested)
• Additional safety gear as described above for arms, groin, legs, hands, etc
• Note taking gear
• Smart phone

What you need to know before attending:

• There is a $25 range usage fee for non-members of host club. If choosing not to prepay, please bring exact cash to training. If you are registering for multiple people who are a mix of members and non members, please make separate purchases for members and non members as the prepaid fee applies to every registrant.
• Club members at host clubs are eligible for 10% off tuition. Email andy@rapiddefensewi.com your badge number to receive the discount code prior to purchasing the class.
• We'll send exact location address and class information about a week out from the class containing everything you need to know.
• Withdrawal and refund requests must be made to andy@rapiddefensewi.com at least 14 days prior to the registered event, and are subject to a 5% cancellation fee to cover our refund/processing costs.
