We spend a lot of our lives in vehicles, and threats may occur at any time - be it from road rage, a bad neighborhood, or even civil unrest. Vehicle-Involved Defensive Handgun was developed to give citizens a path to success when self-defense is required in and around vehicles. This class applies flat range and close-quarter defensive handgun skills to the confines of a vehicle and the surrounding space. Conflict avoidance, de-escalation, less-lethal, and lethal use of force concepts will be discussed, with specific tactics for each practiced with live role-playing involved.

There is a mix of classroom time, walk-throughs, simulations, and live fire through a crawl-walk-run concept that ensures students understand the "why" behind each method. Personal, ethical, and legal considerations and limitations will be discussed. This class involves the use of a real vehicle and spends a good amount of time on the ballistic properties of various rounds on different parts of the vehicle.

We cover these topics as best we can with range capabilities and limitations.

Areas covered during this class:

• Close-quarter handgun use and the considerations when space is limited
• Threat awareness, conflict avoidance, de-escalation
• Drawing, concealing, and manipulating a handgun in a seated or compromised position
• Using a vehicle as cover and/or concealment
• Shooting from non-standard positions inside and around vehicles
• Ballistics lab featuring various rounds on various parts of a vehicle
• Vehicle operation limitations and advantages
• Personal, ethical, and legal considerations
• Dryfire training techniques to practice

Prerequisites:

• Introductory-level handgun class
• Open mind
  
• Must be lawful for you to possess a firearm in the United States
  

Student supply list:

• Semi automatic handgun (zeroed if using red dot)
• Belt and concealable holster for your firearm (IWB or OWB acceptable)
• Magazine pouches (concealable if possible) and 2+ magazines
• 200 rounds of ammo for your pistol (FMJ only)
• Dummy pistol such as a red/blue gun, airsoft, or other trainer (bring gas and BB's if needed)
• Eye protection
  
• Ear protection
  
• Baseball type cap or a hat and active clothing (pants suggested)
• Note taking gear
• Smart phone

What you need to know before attending:

• There is a $25 range usage fee for non-members of host club. If choosing not to prepay, please bring exact cash to training. If you are registering for multiple people who are a mix of members and non members, please make separate purchases for members and non members as the prepaid fee applies to every registrant.
• Club members at host clubs are eligible for 10% off tuition. Email andy@rapiddefensewi.com your badge number to receive the discount code prior to purchasing the class.
• We'll send exact location address and class information about a week out from the class containing everything you need to know.
• Withdrawal and refund requests must be made to andy@rapiddefensewi.com at least 14 days prior to the registered event, and are subject to a 5% cancellation fee to cover our refund/processing costs.
