Advanced Defensive Shotgun is a fast-paced, one day class for intermediate or advanced shooters wishing to confidently understand and use their shotgun in a defensive capacity. This class builds off of the skills learned in the intro and intermediate shotgun classes, and will continue to hone those techniques to a higher level of proficiency.
We focus on giving students a high level of confidence using their shotgun while moving, using cover, and working from various positions at a faster pace all while keeping the shotgun up and running. This includes testing and evaluating the shotgun itself, related gear, and various shell types throughout. Students will also conduct ballistic diagnostic experiments on common barriers and substrates for a deeper understanding of how various loads perform. This will help you decide on the best defense round for your environment or purpose.
This course can be run with a reliable pump action or semi-auto shotgun either 12 or 20 gauge. Students should have ghost ring or red dot sight equipped shotgun, though bead and rifle sights are permitted (understanding their limitations). No magazine fed or bullpup shotguns are allowed in this class.
