INSTRUCTOR: French Quarter Training (Craig French) - Instructor Bios
This class is for students familiar with using a defensive shotgun who wish to enhance their skills and become confidently proficient in using it. This class builds on the Intro to Defensive Shotgun class with a quick review before honing the students’ skills and comfort level with more complex skills at a faster pace. Students will learn how to confidently use their shotgun for personal defense.
The introductory level fundamentals are reviewed and corrected first to build a baseline for the intermediate skills. Students will learn how and when to transition to their pistol properly and safely, how to use and work around cover, and how to shoot effectively from non-traditional shooting positions and/or movement. Students will get a chance to test and evaluate their weapons, gear, and ammunition selection to verify their theory of use. A portion of this class will be dedicated to testing and documenting the ammunition and shotgun selection that the students have chosen.
This course can be run with a reliable pump action or semi-auto shotgun either 12 or 20 gauge. Students should have ghost ring or red dot sight equipped shotgun, though bead and rifle sights are permitted (understanding their limitations). No magazine fed or bullpup shotguns are allowed in this class.
