Half our lives are spent in the dark, and often times that's when nefarious things happen. Being able to shoot confidently and effectively in low light conditions is a skill that few shooters possess, or even consider in their training. We believe this to be an essential course for those who carry regularly or keep a gun for self defense in the home.

This one-day class is for experienced shooters to develop the knowledge and skills to defend themselves and others in dark situations, including inside the home, their vehicle, or in public. Considerations for lights both handheld and weapon mounted will be discussed, along with how to use them safely and effectively both defensively and as a deterrent. This class also dispels the myths around light use and equips students with real-world knowledge to use lights correctly.

Areas covered during this class:

• Legal issues involving low light handgun applications
• Building technique to improve fundamentals: grip, stance, sight picture, sight alignment, trigger control, follow-through, natural point of aim while using both handheld and weapon-mounted lights
• Loading, reloading, holstering, and safely handling your gun when you can't see
• Shooting quickly and accurately with one or more rounds in the dark
• Discerning between threats and non-threats and making quicker decisions
• Positional shooting, and using cover and concealment with a light
• Malfunctions and corrective actions with limited visibility
• Mythbusting defensive light use

Prerequisites:

• Intermediate-level handgun class
• Open mind
• Must be lawful for you to possess a firearm in the United States

Student supply list:

• Semi automatic handgun (zeroed if using red dot)
• Belt and holster for your firearm, concealed carry set up optional
• Magazine pouches and 3 magazines
• 250 rounds of ammo for your pistol
• 5 rounds of your chosen defensive carry ammo
• Back up handgun and magazines suggested
• Handheld flashlight (more than one style or type suggested)
• Weapon-mounted light (optional)
• Batteries and chargers for lights
• Eye protection
• Ear protection
• Baseball type cap or a hat
• Knee pads recommended
• Note taking gear
• Smart phone

What you need to know before attending:

• There is a $25 range usage fee for non-members of host club. If choosing not to prepay, please bring exact cash to training. If you are registering for multiple people who are a mix of members and non members, please make separate purchases for members and non members as the prepaid fee applies to every registrant.
• Club members at host clubs are eligible for 10% off tuition. Email andy@rapiddefensewi.com your badge number to receive the discount code prior to purchasing the class.
• We'll send exact location address and class information about a week out from the class containing everything you need to know.
• Withdrawal and refund requests must be made to andy@rapiddefensewi.com at least 14 days prior to the registered event, and are subject to a 5% cancellation fee to cover our refund/processing costs.
