Our most attended class, Intermediate Scoped Carbine is designed for shooters who have completed Intro to Scoped Carbine, or have good ballistic data and previous experience shooting their carbines at extended ranges (approximately 200-500 yards). Students should have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of marksmanship and should be able to shoot their carbines to a high-degree of accuracy.
The emphasis on Intermediate Scoped Carbine is making first round hits at extended distances, utilizing reticle holds, maximum point-blank range, and dialing elevation if a student’s optic is so equipped. Students will engage known and unknown distance targets to 500 or 600 yards (range dependent), and be trained on the basics of estimating and “calling” wind. Students will gain experience in both shooting and spotting roles, learning how to discuss windage and elevation corrections, spot impacts and misses, and learn how to watch for bullet trace and mirage.
Students will be taught the principles of building stable shooting positions off barricades and tripods. This approach goes beyond teaching a handful of techniques, providing them with the ability to problem-solve and adapt to a variety of situations and objects (whether man made or natural) in any environment they may find themselves in.
