PREREQUISITE: Students should have a basic understanding of how their firearm operates (if you are unsure of your skill level, take our quick proficiency quiz)

Introduction to Scoped Carbine is a one-day class designed to show students how to select, setup, and utilize a lightweight carbine with a magnified optic for defensive purposes at home, their property, or in a duty capacity. This course is geared around the 5.56mm/.223 AR-15 platform, though bolt action guns can certainly be utilized in this class with an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.

Students will learn about rifle and equipment setup, how to properly mount an optic, the differences (advantages and disadvantages) offered by low-power variable optics and red dot/magnifier combinations, zeroing, ballistics, marksmanship, and weapon manipulations. Students will learn about close range engagements with these rifles, as well as engaging targets out to 500 yards.

Prerequisites:

  • Open mind
  • Must be lawful for you to possess a firearm in the United States
  • Students should have a basic understanding of how carbines (AR15) work

Student supply list:

  • Rifle with magnified optic or scope (AR15 style rifle recommended)
  • Sling for rifle (single point sling not recommended)
  • 2+ rifle magazines and pouches
  • 150 rounds of ammo
  • Eye protection
  • Ear protection
  • Baseball type cap or a hat
  • Knee pads recommended
  • Note taking gear and smart phone

What you need to know before attending:

  • There is a $25 range usage fee for non-members of host club. If choosing not to prepay, please bring exact cash to training. If you are registering for multiple people who are a mix of members and non members, please make separate purchases for members and non members as the prepaid fee applies to every registrant.
  • Club members at host clubs are eligible for 10% off tuition. Email andy@rapiddefensewi.com your badge number to receive the discount code prior to purchasing the class.
  • We'll send exact location address and class information about a week out from the class containing everything you need to know.
