Introduction to Scoped Carbine is a one-day class designed to show students how to select, setup, and utilize a lightweight carbine with a magnified optic for defensive purposes at home, their property, or in a duty capacity. This course is geared around the 5.56mm/.223 AR-15 platform, though bolt action guns can certainly be utilized in this class with an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
Students will learn about rifle and equipment setup, how to properly mount an optic, the differences (advantages and disadvantages) offered by low-power variable optics and red dot/magnifier combinations, zeroing, ballistics, marksmanship, and weapon manipulations. Students will learn about close range engagements with these rifles, as well as engaging targets out to 500 yards.
