We're teaming up with Gateway Defense to offer this high-level two day class, designed for the shooter who is ready to take their performance to the next level. Whether you are a responsibly armed citizen with a focus on defensive shooting, or a budding competitive shooter, this class is for you. Shooting in any context requires us to be both fast and accurate. You simply cannot have one without the other. In this class we will start by doing a deep dive into the fundamentals of shooting. We will build a solid, principle-based foundation on day one, and then learn how to apply those fundamentals to more complex shooting problems on day two.

Performance shooting (or sometimes “practical shooting”) is an approach to firearms training that prioritizes the continual development and execution of shooting skills at a high-level, recognizing those skills are the foundation for all applications of the gun. This class improves mental processing and decision-making under stress, and enhances both environmental and internal awareness.

Areas covered during this class:

• Applying the fundamentals of grip, sight management, and trigger control at a higher level
• Stance, recoil management, and faster splits
• Practical accuracy from 5 to 25+ yards
• Visual confirmation levels: identifying and applying the correct sighting solution for targets of any given size/distance
• OWB draw: consistently finding the dot on the draw, and applying efficiency principles to execute the infamous “scoop” draw on both competition and level 1 retention holsters
• Target transitions: targets at varying distances and sizes, close and wide transitions
• Movement: entries and exits, blending positions, shooting on the move
• Hit Factor scoring: how to utilize HF to properly measure both speed and accuracy and strike the best balance of both

Prerequisites:

• Intermediate-level handgun class
• Open mind
  
• Must be lawful for you to possess a firearm in the United States
  

Student supply list:

• Quality semi auto handgun and holster, zeroed if using red dot (.380, 9, 40, or 45)
• 1,000 rounds for handgun
• Sturdy belt and Kydex OWB or IWB holster (No SERPA, nylon, or leather holsters allowed)
• Minimum of 3-4 magazines for handgun (more highly recommended) and belt pouches
• Tools, batteries, and equipment required to maintain your handgun over 2 days
• Backup handgun, holster, and magazines
• Note taking supplies - paper or phone
• Ear and eye protection
• Range and weather appropriate clothing and footwear for active use
• Sunscreen and/or bug screen
• Lunch, snacks, water, etc
• Chair

What you need to know before attending:

• There is a $25 range usage fee for non-members of host club. If choosing not to prepay, please bring exact cash to training. If you are registering for multiple people who are a mix of members and non members, please make separate purchases for members and non members as the prepaid fee applies to every registrant.
• Club members at host clubs are eligible for 10% off tuition. Email andy@rapiddefensewi.com your badge number to receive the discount code prior to purchasing the class.
• We'll send exact location address and class information about a week out from the class containing everything you need to know.
• Withdrawal and refund requests must be made to andy@rapiddefensewi.com at least 30 days prior to the registered event, and are subject to a 5% cancellation fee to cover our refund/processing costs.
